Straight Not Narrow!!

I think this is a really great cause.

Heterosexuals For Same-Sex Equality

Being from Canada and Canada being only the 3rd country in the world to elect that all couples are equal and have the same rights I think this is a great leap forward and this is a great group.

Its hard to describe to anyone that was not raised in Canada what they teach you in school and what you are made to believe. What ever your beliefs are I think Canadians are WAY different in the way they view race, religion, and sexual orientation.

When you grow up and race, religion, and same sexual orientation are just what they are... Nothing is a big deal to anyone.

They just are.

I grew up in a such a culturally diverse society (and I am very thankful for that) that growing up you never saw "race" it did not matter what "religion" you were. Or even what your sexual orientation was. People are people. Period.

To be honest until I moved to the US I never really understood how different the US is in comparison to Canada in regards to race, religion and sexual orientation.

Heaven forbid if you had and spoke about a gay friend. Or friend of another race, if you smiled at a baby that happened to be a different race and are cussed at by the mother.

Serious true story.

So either way, what ever you believe I wear my heart on my sleeve about this and about me.

I am proud of the fact that the way I was raised I was taught not to judge, not to see color or race, that ALL people are equal regardless of their race, religion or sexual orientation...

People are people. Period.

Hmmm, while I agree for the most part, we're not perfect up here...
It's just kind of more subtle.

That photo is fantastic though!

Right there with you random!
Some of my closest friends are gay and I've had the pleasure of attending their 'wedding' or civil ceremony as it's called over here, last year. They've been together for more than 15 years and have a relationship to be envious of.

Great cause. Love the picture!

it's an awesome mentality. some of my family members are from a different generation and can't be open minded (yet). the world isn't that big anymore - we all have to get along on this big ball of blue.

Princess- Nicely put. We are no angels thats for sure.

Dee- I am glad you feel that way. I am actually trying to get my hands on one of their shirts that say "Straight Not Narrow"
I think its awesome!

Ally- Oh I agree. My mom even has a bit of a small mind when it comes to this. As many friends as I have been introduced to her I would figure by now she would be over it... Ha ha.. Note to self to try again when I am home to visit!
