So I have a gov job...
And all these people I work with (there is about 9 of us in the office) do this thing....
I get paid till 5pm. I leave at 5pm.
THEY ALL WAIT FOR EACH OTHER... And try to make me feel guilty that I do not.
Am I being rude? I mean I wait once in a while, but NOT EVERY friggin day.... The times I have waited I have not gotten out until like 5:15.
I don't know. At first it bothered me that they tried to make me feel guilty. I even asked my manager if we were required to stay and wait and she said "no" its just something they do.
Well I am paid till 5, I leave at 5.
What do you think?

i don't think it's rude. if they hurried up and left at 5pm then maybe, but not at 515pm. they are rude to try to make you feel guilty.
you get paid 'till 5, leave @ 5
period. end of story.
You start the trend and leave at 5pm, maybe others will start to follow you instead of the one staying behind!
Ally- There is this one guy who everyday is "Oh your sneaking out again?"
Deutlich- Thats what I have been doing, until I am told otherwise.
Trixie- I leave at 5 no matter what... They can think what they want
I'm with you leave at 5 and I wouldn't worry about waiting on anyone else.
Heck, embarrass the hell out THEM. Tell them you have to hurry and get out of there because you have to make it home before your husband does...'cause there's lingerie' waiting on the bed, that has your name written allll over it...and you'd rather NOT see your hubby in it instead;)
