Lesson learned..

So I was in TERRIBLE need of an eyebrow wax..

Like bad

So I walk into the salon and this cute, bubbly girl walks over and takes me back.

As she is sizing me up I notice that she is cross eyed.

(no offense to anyone with crossed eyes)

Do you see where I am going with this?

A crossed eyed cosmetician?

Oh yeah you can laugh.. Its a bad as it seems....

Thank goodness they grow back!

Don't say I did not warn you..

So I have the DIY bug. Bad. I have a TONNE of projects on the go that I am dying to share but have yet to finish ....

While perusing design blogs I can across this one called Catalog Living they make fun of pictures from design magazines. Some of them are so funny!

Here is a little taste:

Sit on it.....

Gary, I just can’t believe that after months of research that’s the chair you chose.

Out of the closet...

While Gary and Elaine were in the kitchen getting popcorn, the brave yellow sweater attempted its escape.

A twist of something...

Elaine was not amused by Gary’s passive-aggressive response to her request to “garnish the cocktails.”

Go check them out.. But do not say I did not warn you...

And the house is a mess.

A big mess. I should post a picture but I am too embarrassed, to give you a "little" idea I accidentally left a bag of garbage by the door way and Ms. Daisy thought it would be fun to strew the garbage ALL OVER THE HOUSE!! It was only bathroom garbage and nothing gross but its EVERYWHERE...

Umm general question here... Has anyone used Merry Maids? And are they any good? lol I fear with the hours I am working and the time before hubby comes home I may be in some big trouble!!lol

Funny story...

So when I was traveling back from Halifax when I was home in Canada, I had only carried on because I was only in town for 3 days and I did not want to pay to check bags. That and because it was such a quick trip I did not want them to lose anything...

Anywho when I was coming back from Halifax they asked me to check my carry on because it weighed too much. Well I panicked. I was only going to be home in Canada for 2 more days and if they lost it I would be devastated because EVERYTHING that I use was in there....

Well with much cohercering from the nice lady I asked her "Please do not lose this!" (she thought I was nuts but laughed at me anyways....

When I got my bag back this was written on my tags......

It made me smile : ) Because really like she had a choice if it got lost or not!

My review of Purex 3 in 1 Laundry sheets

7 books in 7 days!! Book Giveaway Bonanza!! Day 2
So you can read all about the giveaway here

The rules:
1. Leave a comment to enter, answering a question I will leave a the end of the post. ITS THAT EASY!!! And if you win for the day YOU PICK which book you would like to get in the mail!!

And I am totally NOT getting paid for this. I wish. But I keep seeing the commercials for this and all the "hype" about it. So I used a coupon and I purchased it!! And I figured I would blog about it because "I know you were wondering too!"

Here is the little sheet that I was VERY skeptical about. Its small and does not look like much but it seems to get the job done.

Foams up nicely. More than I thought to be honest.

All it all, its a pretty easy concept. However for those of us that have been "doing it" the old fashion way for our life times it was really weird.

You know, strange weird? Like all the measuring and bounce sheet adding days are behind us? I have used it a few times now and its still weird to me. I just can not get over not pouring in the detergent or bounce sheets.

And its expensive too. Almost 2 times what you would pay for regular soap and bounce sheets.

This is the breakdown that I came up with

Purex 20 sheets (20 loads) $5.40 is $0.27 a load
Regular Detergent (96 loads we use the All Small and mighty) $11 is $0.11 a load + bounce $3 (180 loads) which adds another $0.01 So $0.12 a load regular stuff.

To be honest it was convenient and kinda handy but I am still not sold on dropping the old fashion way. It just seems too weird to me!!!

7 books in 7 days!! Book Giveaway Bonanza!! Day 2

Day 2 Question:

Do you ever have that feeling?

When you are somewhere and it just feels like you belong? Like you ended up in the place so that you can make the next steps?

Well I was at a function this weekend at a retirement community and I had the weirdest feeling come over me. The moment that this feeling came over me a volunteer coordinator walked right past me.

So long story short I have a new volunteer position at a beautiful retirement community!! I am SO excited. The facility is beautiful. Everyone that works there seems really nice, so I will be volunteering on Mondays. And the best news is I get to do whatever I want. Paint toes, read books, play games.

And in the process of telling my new volunteer coordinator that I was SO EXCITED to get started a lady from The American Heart Association overheard me and asked if I ALSO wanted to volunteer with them?? She said I was very out going and friendly and I would be a great asset to their team too!! They do a bunch of fun events to educate women about heart health and basically they provide all the training and I pick which events I want to do!!

I am SO EXCITED!!! 2 new volunteer positions. In 1 day!

The best customers all day!

So I have worked in restaurants over 20 years. I have a love hate relationship with it.

I love it for the customer aspect of it, I LOVE working with people.

I hate it for "certain" customers. They may me wonder some times how people make it through each day being SO horrible.

It all evens out, and more often than not we have more nice customers than mean customers.

At the restaurant I work at we have this one couple that comes in every week. EVERYONE that works there knows who they are. There bill is always about $80 - $100 and the reason everyone knows who they are is

THEY ALWAYS TIP 100%

So last night the hubby and I went out for dinner. It was not an $80 dinner by any means but I remember the one time I got the %100 tippers, so we left %100 tip. I explained to the hubby that we just made this girls night. We snuck out before she looked at it and I ran to the rest room, when I came back I saw our waitress and all her co-workers giving high fives, and she did a little cheerleading move.

That alone was worth it.

And we feel FABULOUS about it!

The Red Hat Ladies...

So umm have you ever heard of them? The red hat society this is how they got started

While visiting a friend in Tucson several years ago, Sue Ellen impulsively bought a bright red fedora at a thrift shop, for no other reason than that it was cheap and, she thought, quite dashing. A year or two later she read the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph, which depicts an older woman in purple clothing with a red hat. Sue Ellen felt an immediate kinship with Ms. Joseph. She decided that her birthday gift to her dear friend, Linda Murphy, would be a vintage red hat and a copy of the poem. She has always enjoyed whimsical decorating ideas, so she thought the hat would look nice hanging on a hook next to the framed poem. Linda got so much enjoyment out of the hat and the poem that Sue Ellen gave the same gift to another friend, then another, then another.

One day it occurred to these friends that they were becoming a sort of "Red Hat Society" and that perhaps they should go out to tea... in full regalia. They decided they would find purple dresses which didn't go with their red hats to complete the poem's image.

The tea was a smashing success.

Soon, each of them thought of another woman or two she wanted to include, and they bought more red hats. Their group swelled to 18, and they began to encourage other interested people to start their own chapters (18 women don't fit well around a tea table). One of their members passed along the idea to a friend of hers in Florida, and their first "sibling" group was born.

Sue Ellen's fondest hope is that these societies will proliferate far and wide. We have now held three successful Red Hat Society conventions entire hotels filled with women of a certain age wearing red hats and purple outfits! Could world domination be far behind?

Well I JOINED!!! These ladies come in once in a while to my restaurant, and they are all so fun and full of life and they asked me to join!!

Well seeing how you have to be 50 and well obviously I am not, I am required to wear a pink hat and lavender clothing as opposed to the red hat and royal purple..

I had my first lunch on Wednesday and it was SOOO FUN!!

Ready to go!!

This was one of my ladies I had made a connection with at lunch. She is 8o years old next month so I am going to send her some flowers!! She used to be a professional figure skater...

The other pink hat you see is a friend from work...
