Death of the FABULOUS frame

So my first DIY project has died a deadly death.

She was so pretty and she was my first.. You always remember your first..

She survived the move fine but when I went to hang her I "bumped" her.. Yeah she crumbled. Hubby offered to help me glue it back together.. Nope she went into the trash....

A little do it yourself project

I was having a little issue with my "jewelry" I LOVE to accessorize but I always find it too hard to find what I am looking for.. or even to remember what I have I keep it in shoe boxes and little pull Rubbermaid totes tucked in my closet

And we keep our bedroom door open so Daisy can get in and out of the bedroom whenever she needs to
So we have this HUGE bare wall behind our door begging for something so I went out to target and got me some of these (I used a coupon of coarse!)

Started putting them together

And covered the wall in them...

VOILA! I am quite impressed if I do say so myself. And now I know where everything is.. I need to figure out something for my earrings. For now they are in the little totes.

And now I also need more little hooks because I had WAY more than I thought.. But I like the way it turned out!

You are SO UGLY but I lust after you

We are really lucky we do not have a garage.

I now have the home decorators bug!

Serious I LOVE CRAIGSLIST I LOVE IT

And now I have a confession? I now use it to find UGLY furniture and lust after what I could turn it into!!

This little gem... Would need a good sanding and some white or black paint with some new modern hardware?
On OHHH she is SO, SO ugly but she could be SO beautiful with all that character?

I would paint the wood black and reupholster her with this
And this little pretty... She would be so fabulous in something bold! Like Tiffany blue?

Oh the ideas in my head. I would not use any of these in my home though it would all be to resell. But all of these pieces are selling for ONLY $50!!

I have issues..

I will post the winners of the Fabulous giveaway later tonight!

DIY projects the ugly ottoman...August 2010

So before we moved I was on my way home from work and spotted a garage sale that was closing up.

This little gem caught my eye.. She was SO ugly, but it turns out the lady was packing up and did not want to drag in back into the garage and I paid $2 for this baby.... The lady had just reupholstered it and I LOVED the top of it...

I know shes ugly...

So I took off the legs....

Sprayed her with primer...

And they sprayed her black...

Voila she still has a little life left in her.. And I now LOVE it, we were looking for something for the end of the bed because its so high and sometimes at night Daisy trys to jump and falls off.. I thought this would make it easier..

And now that we are all moved into our new place... there is no room for her...

Don't say I did not warn you..

So I have the DIY bug. Bad. I have a TONNE of projects on the go that I am dying to share but have yet to finish ....

While perusing design blogs I can across this one called Catalog Living they make fun of pictures from design magazines. Some of them are so funny!

Here is a little taste:

Sit on it.....

Gary, I just can’t believe that after months of research that’s the chair you chose.

Out of the closet...

While Gary and Elaine were in the kitchen getting popcorn, the brave yellow sweater attempted its escape.

A twist of something...

Elaine was not amused by Gary’s passive-aggressive response to her request to “garnish the cocktails.”

Go check them out.. But do not say I did not warn you...

DAMN YOU HGTV! My first DIY project

I am addicted. So is the hubby.

Its GOOD.

ALL OF IT!

Design on a dime, Income Property, House Virgins, and Bang for your buck and Homes on Homes?.

Yeah its like crack. The hubby and I watch it almost EVERY night.

Well I have been bitten by the bug. The design/DIY bug.

BAD I have about 6 projects on the go.

This was the first "small" thing I decided to try and I was super excited! I found this REALLY beautiful frame however ugly it was... It was brown but the shape was good so I popped out the glass

Used primer! (so important I have learned I will have to show you my HOW NOT to project I had started)

Then while its drying I headed off to the craft store to find fabric. Yes fabric. I saw it on Design on a dime and I thought "I can do that" So I did. I tapped the fabric to the filler thing that was in the frame.

Then I looked at the frame when it was dry and did not like it. Did a little research that took me FOREVER because I fell in love with no less than 90 Design blogs and then I

Sealed it because thats what the design blogs said to do and its beautiful!!

Voila!

What do you think?

(please try to ignore that I did not iron the fabric first I was too excited!)

I wash EVERYTHING..

Yep, I put everything in the washer and dryer...

Case and point. I found this BEAUTIFUL vintage "faux fir" (or what I thought) at goodwill for a steal at $3. It was so gorgeous on it fit PERFECT! I though I would take it home and wash the thrift store smell out of it and try my luck at dying it because the color was a little uneven....

There goes that idea.....

And because it was so old there was no label.. But I guess I should have maybe looked a little better? lol

Oh well I tried...
