Sure you were not texting while driving...

So on my day off last week I was walking into CVS (one of my fav places) and I hear this DOZY of an accident, the lady that caused it all I could see in her car SMOKING BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM HER TIRES because she was STILL pushing the accelerator so black smoke and all the cars in front of her are staking up...

I run over to make sure everyone is ok.
And ask her "Was your text that important?"

To which she responds.. "Oh no I was not texting I was just changing the radio station, and then I thought I was pushing the brakes and it was the accelerator"
3 cars all underneath each other because of this idiot. With her real estate sticker on the side of her car.

Sure you were not texting and I did not see that.. My bad!
PS. Everyone was ok.

And I stuck around to fill out the police report and while I was giving my statement about watching her "change the radio station for over 40 seconds while black smoke is spitting from her tires" she comes running over and tries to explain herself to the officer

Who held up his hand total diva styles and told the lady "Back off lady"

So I guess he was pissed too that his day was interrupted by this IDIOT as well....

Oh and 3 cars all stacked under each other.. Not a scratch on her SUV...

What not to wear Wednesday!

Oh yes.. At first I thought this lady was naked... And then I had a closer look, I wish I would have gotten a closer picture of her face because she about 50. And under her very pretty mid drift leopard print top that accentuated her C-section scar...
Oh yeah and her hair had not been brushed in 2 weeks. And she strutted like she was all that... ugg
And because I can not make this shit up... I ran into these two at Walgreens the other day, and well I had to ask to take a picture because I mean who would BELIEVE THIS??

I had a good laugh and they were on their way to a "Rock Band" contest at his god daughters house who was 7, there were going to be about 30 people there and he wanted to make sure he made an impact because "He would do anything for that little girl"

He even shaved his head! Love it!

People are idiots

Serious things I have heard this week.

"I will have a diet coke, and a water. But not in the same glass. Two different glasses please. One of water, one of diet coke, ok?"

Uumm really lady. I mean you REALLY need to specify this? I mean really? Do I look like and idiot?

Same day different table.

"Can we get 2 waters and a coke. We are just going to share the coke?"

Stupid people YOU CAN NOT SHARE A BOTTOMLESS DRINK!!

Oh and my all time favorite

"Oh can I just have a glass I water and LOTS of lemons? I am just going to make my own lemonade"

I can not make this stuff up! And I would LOVE to tell you this is so random and barely happens but ITS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME.

Ok rant done.

Remember the day I was stabbed?

Remember this post?

Well following is the letter I sent and the bottom is the response that I received. Everything in brackets was not actually sent...

I am writing to advise you of the dining experience we had with your establishment yesterday (February 3rd, 2010).

Lunch was fabulous, the food was awesome, the server was great (His name was Bob *names changed to protect the stabber) and all round it was a great dining experience.

Until I was stabbed by your server with a knife, he was pre bussing our table and accidentally cut a piece of skin off of my finger with your steak knives.

Now I understand accidents happen, and I accept that this may have been a freak accident however I would assume that if a guest is made to bleed by accident that at least a manager would stop by to make sure everything was ok? When I asked the server for a hand sink to rinse and wash my bleeding finger he lead me to the COKE MACHINE and had me run it under a stream of water from that?

Hardly sanitary I would bet. He even had to ASK ME if I would like a bandage? I mean I am bleeding, pretty bad, as fingers do! Of course I would like a bandage. I also had to request he bring me an alcohol wipe to clean my finger due to the fact that it was washed in a coke machine and there was butter on the knife?

I am appalled at the lack of attention this matter received. I was not offered any medical attention; a manager did not even stop by to make sure everything was ok?

Is this standard practice for an establishment as big as yours? Accepting it was an accident was fine but to just brush this under the carpet as if nothing had happened? It is not ok! Regardless that I was with a group of people is there a reason that this would not be addressed?

What if I was seriously injured? (I was not thank goodness)

Sincerely

Random Musings

The OWNER of the restaurant called me. I felt a little bad because he was also appalled and the fact that it was my first visit to the restaurant and I had such a bad experience.

Well he apologized profusely.

He said he was sending my husband and I something in the mail to "try to make up" for their error.

He also said until he received my letter from corporate that he still had no idea about the incident. He was in the store at the time of the accident and was upset that nothing was said because he would have been the first to stop by.

In hopes of the server not getting too much flack because IT WAS AN ACCIDENT however freaky, they are going to address the issue and use my incident as a training tool about how not to handle accidents. Also it was scary to him that the manager (if the manager was even told which I HOPE was not the case so the server does not get fired based on how angry the owner was) that it was not recorded in any logs or reported to him before the letter.

I could have been a hemophiliac and died a little dramatic I know, or as far as they know I could be HIV positive and washing my finger in the coke machine....

Anywho I am happy at the way it was settled. Even if they chose not to send anything I am glad I received a call and it was heart felt. (that or the owner was a GREAT actor) I still feel a little bad about the bunch of shit the server is going to get into.

But it was his own fault. All he needed to do was say something. Because we all know accidents happen.

What a day! I can not make this shit up!

So the day started with my Wednesday FREE pilates class. It was a great workout, you never realize how out of shape you are till you start working out again....

Well after my class I scooted over to the babysitting place (its next door) and we only had about 5 kids today which was nice. The girl lets call her J that I babysit with explains more about her sons condition. (another post coming about that)

Anyho there is the precious little boy I have a little crush on, hes a little cuddle bug but the minute his mom walks out he crys. The last time he cried THE WHOLE HOUR, this time it was only for about a minute I was able to console him and he fell asleep in my arms.

So the hour passes and his mom comes to pick him up, his baby sippy cup had spilled out on the table and I wiped it with my hand and wiped it on my pants nobigdeal.

His mom says "Oh, that's breast milk"

EWWWW

Ok so moving on, after pilates, babysitting, then a yoga class I head to my Red Hat Ladies lunch that was SUPER yummy. Well at the end of the lunch we are all getting ready to leave and the server was cleaning up and STABBED ME WITH A KNIFE!!!

Really? STABBED MY FINGER WITH A KNIFE!! So I jump up startled my finger is bleeding like crazy and the server says "Oh I'm sorry?"

And I even had to ask for a bandage and an alcoholic wipe to clean up.

No more sorries, no manager no nothing. So I am writing them a nice little letter? I mean I KNOW it was an accident. They happen. But nothing, no follow up? No offer of medical attention? And yes I can be a drama queen BUT I WAS BLEEDING ALL OVER YOUR RESTAURANT! (i'll let you know what happens)

So the hubby and I went to get our taxes done tonight. One more year in the books! Its such a relief. (and we are getting a nice little check to pay for our Cabos expenses YAY!)

On the way home we stopped at McDonalds (I know whats the point of doing 2 classes in a day if you are going to eat McDonalds at 9pm? Don't judge..lol)

We order our food. Pay our bill and the guy asks us to pull up it will be a minute. So we sit there, talking and joking around, one car, two car, three cars drive by and we start to joke that "Maybe they forgot us?"

We wait 10 minutes then I go in.

Oh yeah they forgot us. And we got to eat for FREE!! How sweet is that?

What a day

Counting our blessings this Christmas morning...

We woke up to a fire this morning.

At 5am Christmas morning our fire alarms were BLAZING, in the panic of what was going on the minute I heard the fire alarm I could smell the fire.

I shook the husband and we jumped into action, the lights were still out when I got into the hall and saw the flames the fire was coming from the heating unit.

We quickly turned on the lights, switched the breaker and took down the filters (that were about to go up in flames but only had a little burning on them) I had also instinctively closed the bedroom door to make sure Daisy was safe only to notice that I had done it after...

We both wandered around a bit in panic about what to do next. We did not want to call the fire dept because the fire was out. And it was 5am Christmas morning.

We called building management and left a message on the emergency machine about the fire and got a call right back....

At the request of the building management we called the non-emergency fire dept number and they came... lights and sirens BLARING at 5am on Christmas morning with 2 fire trucks FULL of firefighters.

They came in to access the damage and make sure the fire was out. They used infrared to make sure there was no fire still in the ceiling (who knew) I am not going to lie I was scared out of my wits. They said fire can be a scary beast.

Also that our smoke detector was worth its weight in gold.

We had already aired the house out pretty good, but the smell of burning was pretty thick, after everything had settled I had a very good cry.

Yep the hubby and I sat on the couch and I cried. I cried and I was so THANKFUL that it happened the way it did.

I was so thankful our smoke alarm works.

I felt so blessed we were both home.

I was so thankful that it happened so quick and we both reacted as quickly as we did.

We are blessed and so thankful this Christmas in more ways than I could ever explain.
