What packing and shoe selection looks like...

So I think I only brought 9 pairs. Thats fair. 20 days 9 pairs... opps actually 11 if you include the flips and the shoes I am wearing in the plane...

Leaving on one of these!! See you all soon!

Good news bad news!

Good news is PACKAGES ARE IN THE MAIL!! For all those who won the giveaway the books are in the mail. I think I am still short 2 addresses but those will have to wait until I can get them out when I am back from my trip in September.....

Bad news is I am not taking my computer. Nope. In a HUGE leap of faith I have decided that for 20 days I will be without my lap top. I know **gasp*** but in order to fully be there with my family and friends I have decided to leave it at home. I will still have Internet here and there when I am with my family but postings will be sparse!

I will be home September 2nd in which you can expect a FULL update loaded with pictures and tonnes of fun stories about my adventures!

LOOK OUT CANADA HERE I COME!!

Yep, I cried like a baby!

So the hubby left this morning.

And I cried. A lot.

There is a few reasons I was upset and as the day has gone on the reasons are clearer to me.

1. I am going to miss him.

2. Like Crazy.

3. 22 days is a REALLY long time to go without being around your best friend.

4. I wish he was going too.

5. I am a big baby.

6. We are going to be in different country's away from each other for our 6 year wedding anniversary.

Its so strange because I am not really a big crier. Ok that's a lie. But its been a while since I have had a good cry. And I cried.

Not that cute little, a few tears down my face. We are talking SOBBING! I saved him from the sobbing he just saw the ugly tears and sniffling. I waited till he went till I really let it all out.

I am better now and I am SUPER excited for my trip I just wish I was going with my man...

On a budget....

So times are tough.. and I had a coupon for free hair dye. From the look of my locks you can tell its been a while since I have been to the salon.. like 6 months!! And seeing how I am leaving for vacation in 4 days!!!! And the fact that I am a server and I am not going to be getting paid FOR 20 DAYS, I need to cut corners where I can!

The finished product!

I love the new color, its similar enough to my own that it will not be too terrible as it grows out.

Not bad for free huh? Now I just have to hit up a cheap hair cut place for a trim....

I imagine this would be like what having a child is like?

I love this dog more than words can say. If I go to use the bathroom and I close the door she will sit there and cry.

She also insist that the minute I sit down that a kiss is needed RIGHT AWAY, she will perch up on my legs for a kiss.

She then sits there and waits.....

Now I understand why my mother was always screaming "Can I get a minute alone?" while we were yelling at her through the bathroom door....

A diamond in the rough

So I bought this dress. It was a dollar. The dress was cute but not the color. I told myself for a dollar I would buy the dress and get some cute accessories and shoes to go with it. I mean it was a lime green dress how bad could it be to accessorize it? You know how you try on dresses and then one fits but its not the one you were dreaming about?? Well that was this dress. It was cute, it fit in all the right places, it was "doable" but not the cutest color...

And then I got to thinking... What if this dress was PINK?? I would totally love this dress if it was pink! I have NEVER died anything before. Or even thought about it so seeing how I had a coupon for a craft store I headed over to see if they had clothing die..... And they did.... So here we go....

Prepping the dress for dying... (see how ugly the color was? I lime/yellow green?)

And then........................

VOILA!! A super cute party dress for a grand total of $4.00.

I LOVE this dress now.....

Do you do projects like this?

You may be a jackass if...

Open letters to the jackasses I have encountered in the last 2 days!

*** warning lots of bad words are going to be used!**

Dear Jackass #1:

You are a loser. The fact that you came out to dinner and left YOUR FU*KING NEEDLE, yes people a FUCKING NEEDLE on the table for the poor unsuspecting bus boy to STAB his finger on when he does not expect a fucking needle to be on the table and it impales into his finger.
Your an asshole.
You have NO CLASS and you should be shot. Really taken out into a field and shot (ok maybe not for real but SERIOUSLY!)
How do you do that? This poor man who has a family and 3 children then needed to be rushed to the hospital for rounds of SHOTS that he will have to have done every 3 weeks for the next 6 months. Not to mention the blood screening because all "diseases" can not be detected for weeks or months to come.
Its really scary.
Your a fucking asshole.

Dear Jackass #2:

Who goes out for dinner and then just announces when the bill comes "We are not paying that" Yep just like that. Ok I get that you are rather scary looking. And you probably get away with this every where you go. But you are a criminal. You ordered the food. You ate the food. You can not just, not pay. Well yes you can. And you did.

You are an asshole. I will not even get into the inner conflict I had that you HAD A FUCKING CHILD WITH YOU, and you refused to pay. I mean I guess you could have just walked out, but instead you made a sport of it. Asked for a manager and then also told them you were not going to pay. Yep. Did we call the police? Nope, because my manager (and I sort of agree) values his life more than your $30 meals. That you ate. And then just did not pay.

Your an asshole. And I pray for your child that they will know right from wrong and never grow up as an example that you have set.

Dear Jackass #3

Your an idiot. You let your child throw a rock through a plate glass window and then do not even come forward to report it. Nope you let the other children turn him in.

I mean really? You WITNESSED him do it. Did you not think that the parents in our building would not rat you out when their children were accused? They do live in our building so the assumption would be that they did it? I mean they are obnoxious and loud but they know right from wrong.

Your a jackass. Get some class.

Sincerely

Five lessons about the way we treat people

This is long but such a GREAT read.....

1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.

During my second month of college, our professor

Gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student

And had breezed through the questions until I read

The last one:

"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the

Cleaning woman several times. She was tall,

Dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name?

I handed in my paper, leaving the last question

Blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if

The last question would count toward our quiz grade.

"Absolutely, " said the professor. "In your careers,

You will meet many people. All are significant. They

Deserve your attention and care, even if all you do

Is smile and say "hello."

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her

Name was Dorothy.

2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain

One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American

Woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway

Trying to endure a lashing rain storm. Her car had

Broken down and she desperately needed a ride.

Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.

A young white man stopped to help her, generally

Unheard of in those conflict-filled 19 60's. The man

Took her to safety, helped her get assistance and

Put her into a taxicab.

She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his

Address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a

Knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a

Giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A

Special note was attached.

It read:

"Thank yo u so much for assisting me on the highway

The other night. The rain drenched not only my

Clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along.

Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying

Husband's' bedside just before he passed away... God

Bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving

Others."

Sincerely,

Mrs. Nat King Cole.

3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those

Who serve..

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less,

A 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and

Sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in

Front of him.

"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.

"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and

Studied the coins in it.

"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired.

By now more people were waiting for a table and the

Waitress was growing impatient.

"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied.

The little boy again counted his coins.

"I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put t he bill on

The table and walked away The boy finished the ice

Cream, paid the cashier and left.. When the waitress

Came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the

Table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish,

Were two nickels and five pennies..

You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had

To have enough left to leave her a tip.

4 - Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our Path.

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a

Roadway.. Then he hid himself and watched to see i f

Anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the

King's' wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by

And simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the

King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did

Anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of

Vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the

peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the

stone to the side of the road. After much pushing

and straining, he finally succeeded. After the

peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed

a purse lying in the road where the boulder had

been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note

from the King indicating that the gold was for the

person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The

peasant learned what many of us never understand!

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve

our condition.

5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts...

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a

hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who

was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only

chance of recovery appeared to be a blood

transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had

miraculously survived the same disease and had

developed the antibodies needed to combat the

illness. The doctor explained the situation to her

little brother, and asked the little boy if he would

be willing to give his blood to his sister.

I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a

deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if it will save

her." As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed

next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing

the color returning to her cheek. Then his face

grew pale and his smile faded.

He looked up at the doctor and asked with a

trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away".

Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the

doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his

sister all of his blood in order to save her.

Most importantly..... "Work like you

don't need the money, love like you've never been

hurt, and dance like you do when nobody's watching."

I really loved this

That's Karma bitches!!

So I had this table come in last night.

They seemed nice enough. I gave them good service (or what I would say is good service.) They were a little rude but I thought nothing of it.

At the end of the meal the lady says to me "I work at sister restaurant so I get a discount"

No problem, I take her pay stub and her id and show a manager. All while grumbling under my breath because "SAID" restaurant employees that we give discounts to OFTEN stiff the servers at our restaurant.

Call it them being jealous (we are better) call it just being a jack ass it happens more often than not. And there is nothing we can do about it....

AND THEY STIFFED ME!!! After receiving a discount on their bill of over $12.

Whatever I was expecting it.

And then after 5 minutes the guy comes running into the restaurant and asks the hostess if someone has turned in a cell phone. I can see this going on and the hostess is pointing at me and THE GUY REFUSES TO COME OVER TO ME!! (cause he knows hes a jackass) I ignore this finish cleaning the table and walk into the back.

I wait a bit.

Then I come back out and with his tail between his legs he is standing at the table asking "Did you happen to find a cell phone?"

"Sure didn't" Without skipping a beat or even looking.

He climbed under the table (because there was no way I was going to)

Nothing.

A new table is sat and the guy leaves.

His phone rings and the new table hands it to me......

The moral of the story is always tip your server.......

A social experiment

I already know "some people" are not honest. And completely by mistake I decided to try something at work the other night.

I forgot to ring in drinks for one of my tables I was chatting with. When I dropped off the bill they made sure to tell me that I forgot and asked to have their bill adjusted.

And then I wondered if ALL people would be as honest?

Yep, certainly not the case. On 5 of the 6 tables (only the original one told me about my error) that I PURPOSELY did not ring in drinks NO ONE pointed it out!!!

Can you believe that?? 5 tables!!! Every one of them crooks!!

People are SO MEAN!!

One of the girls I work with just got fired last night because completely by accident she gave the wrong bill to the wrong table. Exactly what I did and got written up the first time of my life? Well said party should have paid $80 and they paid the bill for only $30 without saying anything.

Really people?
